A blog, which brings new beginnings
My name is Samantha and this is my first time ever having my own blog. Yeah, I've had one on myspace and occasionally on livejournal, but nothing too serious. (hence the title of my blog). I'm going to post whatever, whenever on here, and however I please to do so.
I'm a writer , a poet, an artist, a lover, an activist, a daughter, a friend, a person who opens her mind to mostly everything in this world (we all have our limits). I am a freshman at UNCG, trying to figure out what the hell I am enrolled here for and what I actually want to do with my life. I am bisexual, and I feel that isn't the entire me, there is a lot more to me than just that.
I love music, art, poetry, reading, meeting new people, writing, and just the life long pursuit of knowledge (though I don't care for homework).
I feel that if we want the world to change we must do something about it. We can't wait for the world to change just on hope and wishes, we must act and further progress towards positive change in this world.
There are many things and issues going on in the world that a lot of people (not just people my age) are completely ignorant about or have no idea what's going on. That's why I am here, to learn about those issues which the news and media does not cover and to educate those who are unaware of them. Like one particular issue, the Genocide in Darfur, Sudan. 400,000 people have died horrible deaths and the federal government has not done a damn thing about it, nor has the media really covered it, sure there have been media and news outlets that have covered it, but not the ones that the majority of America watches, not your CBS, ABC, NBC, PBS, and FOX News. It was too late in Rwanda for the US to have done anything significant to really help those people, is it going to get to a point where it's going to be too late for Darfur?
This will be a blog of news and some personal views, opinions and emotions.I will also post my likes and tastes in music and popular culture. I will post news stories and about generally things I care about. So things I post about might be serious, they might not be, it changes daily.
So for now thanks for reading and I will have more in the near future.
